Including Tokyo in the title is good for SEO optimisation but your title is a bit lackluster. Better how? Cheaper? More beautiful? Is it a hidden gem? How do you feel about Tokyo v these 5 places? Try something more evocative that hits the nail on the head: I Hate Tokyo, Try These 5 Places Instead; I Skipped Tokyo for These 5 Non-touristy Places in Japan (No Regrets); 5 Places in Japan That Will Change Your Mind About Tokyo

I like the "I skipped Tokyo for these 5 non-touristy places in Japan" but it's a tad long. I'll workshop something shorter!

Make sure you spend some time talking about Tokyo and why you dislike it? It'll give you credibility in using Tokyo in the title

Yes, I was planning to briefly talk about Tokyo in the intro but after hearing this, I think I'll expand on that more.

This is a strong idea — the “alternative Japan” angle has a lot of potential, especially if the visuals are doing heavy lifting. I’d just make sure the five places feel clearly different from each other so it doesn’t become a generic hidden gems list. Maybe frame each one around a specific reason to go: best for scenery, best for old-town atmosphere, best island escape, best road/cycling route, best spiritual/nature experience. That would make the video feel more useful and memorable.

I like the direction, but "better than Tokyo" needs a sharper meaning or people will argue with the title before they understand the video. I would pick one angle and make the list serve that: 1. quieter than Tokyo 2. cheaper than Tokyo 3. more beautiful than Tokyo 4. better for a second Japan trip 5. places I would send a friend after Tokyo For this idea, the strongest version to me is not "Tokyo is bad." It is more like "if you loved Tokyo, these are the places that show you a completely different Japan." I would test a few title versions before committing, because this is exactly the kind of travel idea where a small wording change can shift the whole expectation.
