Cool idea! Perhaps you could film your explanation of the festival in iconic Matsuyama places with overlays from the festival

I was thinking of just doing a voice over but that could be a nice way to bridge content. Im worried that the time differences would be too obvious as the content was filmed over a year ago.

This sounds closer to a vlog to me - I think the personal aspect would hit harder if the angle were changed. You could do a series of vlogs about life in Japan and theb supplement the long form with top 5 lists and how tos.

This sounds strong because it is personal and specific, not just "festival in Japan." I would lean into the outsider/participant angle: how did you get involved, what did you not understand at first, and what did it feel like to carry the mikoshi with everyone? The high-energy shots are good for the open, but the reason to stay is the story behind access. Most travel videos can show a festival. Fewer can explain what it is like to be let into it.
