Video Title

Suikoden STAR LEAP Contest Submission

Category

Entertainment

Hook

I will do an opening showing scenes from the Suikoden series while I play a track that I made for it.

High Level Video Summary

- I will be talking about my submission for the STAR LEAP contest. - I will have my music playing in the background. - I will be showing footage from the games as well as my drawing of my original character that I am submitting for it. - I am also thinking of adding in my hypothetical Suikoden VI since the character that I created is the mother of the Tenkai Star that I made for the idea. - There will be a separate track for people who just want to listen to my music.

Detailed Video Script

Footage of Suikoden plays while I talk about what my thought process was when going into this.

Zachary: The Suikoden series is one of my favourite video game series. I have been playing the games since my childhood with the first being my introduction. When seeing that there was a contest for Suikoden STAR LEAP being run by the Suikoden Revival Movement where you submit a character to be one of the Stars of Destiny, I was very eager to jump into it and make an original character for it.

It was shortly after starting that I realised that my knowledge of the lore needed updating as I wanted to make a character from Harmonia. Originally, I was going to make a Tenkai Star for my hypothetical Suikoden VI to be in the game, but I soon realised that it wouldn’t make sense… So I made his mum instead.

Target Audience

Why will this video succeed?

Since it is for a contest, I believe that it will attract more viewers and with it being for Gensou Suikoden, there is a lot of potential in how many people I can reach if I do it well.

Strategic value to your channel

It reaches an audience that are more likely to return because of what the video is about.

The strongest part is that this is not just a contest entry. It has a personal angle: childhood connection to Suikoden, making original music, and building a character around the lore. I would make the opening about that tension rather than starting too generally. Something like: "I wanted to submit a Tenkai Star, then realized the lore made more sense if I created his mother instead" is a much more specific hook than only saying you are submitting to the contest. The music can be a big strength, but I would be careful that it does not sit in the background like an extra detail. If the track is part of the submission, give it a moment in the structure: why it sounds right for Suikoden, what feeling you were aiming for, and how it connects to the character. I would probably separate the video into three clear beats: why this contest matters to you, how the lore changed the character idea, and then the final character/music reveal. That gives non-hardcore viewers a story to follow while still rewarding Suikoden fans.

Thank you so much for your feedback! That will help me out a lot into making it a video that can attract both Suikoden and non Suikoden fans.

I like that you're explaining your personal connection to Suikoden and how the character evolved during the design process. One way to make this section even stronger is to get to the "hook" a little faster. The first few sentences provide useful context, but viewers might be more engaged if you start with the contest itself or the surprising moment when you realised your original idea wouldn't work. For example, you could open with: "I entered a contest to create a new Star of Destiny for Suikoden STAR LEAP, but halfway through I realised my entire concept didn't fit the lore..." Then explain your love for the series and how that led you there.

The childhood angle is HUGE, lean into it. Right now, your title doesn't convey the same emotiveness that you describe the game having on you. I'd put yourself at the center of the story. Something like: - I've Loved Suikoden Since Childhood: Now I'm Entering the STAR LEAP Contest - Creating a Suikoden Character 20 Years After Playing My First Game - From Childhood Fan to Suikoden STAR LEAP Contestant - Suikoden Shaped My Childhood: This Is My STAR LEAP Submission

This sounds like a great concept because it combines three things that fans are likely interested in: Suikoden, original character design, and your music. My main suggestion would be to make sure the contest submission remains the focus of the video. The hypothetical Suikoden VI idea sounds interesting, but I'd treat it as supporting context rather than a major section so viewers don't lose sight of the main topic.
